Nature of Material: Peridot (PEAR-ih-doe) belongs to the forsterite-fayalite mineral series, which is part of the olivine group; orthorhombic crystal system; chemical com-position (Mg,Fe)2SiO4

Appearance: It transparent to translucent (in highly included stones) yellowish green to greenish yellow to brownish green Phenomena: extremely rare; an asteriated stone has been reported.

The color as such can come in any variation from yellow-green and olive to brownish green.

Peridot is not especially hard – it only achieves about 6.5 to 7 on the Moh’s´ scale – and yet it is easy to care for and quite robust.
